Sandhills Energy began developing solar projects in 2015 and has since seen the market explode across the United States. Solar has become our largest development pipeline with 880 MW in various stages of development. Below are some of our completed solar deals.
Goldenrod Solar
Goldenrod Solar is a 200 MW solar project developed by Sandhills Energy for a large renewable energy operator. In 2017, Sandhills developed a 1400-acre area for, New Madrid County, Missouri. The selected area contains excellent solar resource, suitable land and access to major SPP and MISO transmission lines. Sandhills Energy established New Madrid Solar, LLC and negotiated and secured three-year options on 1,400 acres. After selling the project Sandhills has continued to maintain landowner relationships and extend options as necessary. Goldenrod Solar is a key example of the expertise and vision Sandhills Energy brings as a developer to renewable energy projects.
Sidney Solar
In 2015, Sandhills selected a solar site near Sidney Nebraska based on its proximity to eastern and western grid transmission, suitable land and the best solar resource in Nebraska. Sandhills established Sidney Solar LLC, secured an option on 320 acres for a 40MW project, cleared the site of severed mineral interests, secured legal definition of decades old general easements and worked with local officials in gaining a permit to place the gen-tie line on county road right-of-way.
